California Native American Tribal GIS Summit 2025

NOTE - Free Event - Registration will start by mid-April 2025 (both on-site and virtual)

This first time CA Native American Summit will focus on the uses, challenges, solutions, and recommendations for the use of GIS technology to assist with management of Natural Resources and protection of Cultural Landscapes.  Major Topic Categories will include: 

• The state of GIS in CA Tribal communities

• Data Sovereignty and Governance 

• Environmental Stewardship, Land Development and Management, and Climate Adaptation

• Cultural Preservation, ITEK (Indigenous Traditional Ecological Knowledge), and Cultural Ecology

• Education, Workforce Development and Youth Engagement

• GIS Software and Tools

MID APRIL 2025 - Registration will be available (Free Event).  Portions of event will be available on-prem and virtually.

As of February 28, 2025 - This Summit's Planning Team moving forward with summit planning.  Several GIS topics have been proposed.  Coming soon - call for sponsorship. By mid to late April 2025, registration for this event will be available.  This event will be free to attend.  Portions of this summit will be accessible through Zoom / virtual.  If you have any recommendations for this GIS Summit - please email: info@catribalgis.org

Looking for California Native American Artist(s) - The Summit Planning Team will soon determine a Summit Theme. Also, there will be a need for artwork and photos that promote the CA Native American Tribal use of GIS technologies (i.e., mapping, landscape, Tribal community, GIS/GPS, GPR, drone, LiDAR).  At this time, we will be seeking out funds for the artwork.  If you would like to submit a theme, artwork, or photos - email: info@catribalgis.org
