This first time CA Native American Tribal GIS Summit will focus on the uses, challenges, solutions, and recommendations for GIS technology to assist with management of Natural Resources and protection of Cultural Landscapes.  

Major Topic Categories will include: 

• The state of GIS in CA Tribal communities

• Data Sovereignty and Governance 

• Environmental Stewardship, Land Development and Management, and Climate Adaptation

• Cultural Preservation, ITEK (Indigenous Traditional Ecological Knowledge), and Cultural Ecology

• Education, Workforce Development and Youth Engagement

• GIS Software and Tools

Looking for California Native American Artist(s) - The Summit Planning Team is requesting artwork and photos that promote this year's summit theme " HONORING PLACE, EMPOWERING NATIONS" and CA Native American Tribal use of GIS technologies (i.e., mapping, landscape, Tribal community, GIS/GPS, GPR, drone, LiDAR).  At this time, we will be seeking out funds for the artwork.  If you would like to submit artwork and/or photos - email: info@catribalgis.org
